The Perfect Travel Companion!,
I recently took a year off and went travelling around Europe, but wanted to be able to maintain a secure internet connection so that I could maintain my finances and keep in contact with my friends and family and send them updates and photos via email and social networking sites. On browsing through all the available options, this TRENDnet Travel Router appeared to be the best product for the job. It was super compact to fit neatly in my luggage and not weigh me down for those all important flight weight limits. And it really did surprise me just how small it was when it arrived! It also comes in a handy zip up case as well which means all pieces of the kit can be kept together in the same place and are not all knocking around loose in your bag so you don’t have to go digging for all the separate parts!
Dead easy to carry with me when travelling around – I could quickly and easily assemble the kit in any hotel room or wherever I was staying to receive reliable internet signal. The range was very good on it for its size, don’t think I tested it to the full 50m it claimed but I tried it when on a different floor to the router and some distance from it and it seemed to work fine with no problems. The connection was fast – probably just as good as I had at home for what I wanted it for (uploading pictures and sending emails)and it was secure which was the important thing when travelling. I think I would much rather use my own router and connection as I feel that I at least had some sort of control over the security of it, especially when dealing with things such as online banking etc.
In summary, I really did think this was a great product and it is ideal for travelling pretty much anywhere, not just abroad. I highly recommend it to anyone requiring a secure connection on the go.

|Very nice peice of kit,
I travel quite a bit with my new job, so it soon became pretty clear that I needed a reliable router that I could take around with me. A colleague recommended this Trendnet one, and I have to say I’m glad I listened. I was amazed at how small it is, it actually does fit easily into a pocket. But the most important thing is the performance, and it is great. I have used it a few times already at different locations, and it has consistently given me a fast reliable connection. The range is also very impressive, especially for such a small device, I could still get a signal from well outside of my hotel room. Finally, I deal with some fairly confidential files, so it’s reassuring to know that the network is protected by advanced encryption.
All in all, very pleased with my purchase, would recommend it to anyone!

|Tiny,
Tiny router, with lots of functionality, let down by a few niggles. The power supply is huge, and the British plug is so big it barely allows the carry case to close. I replaced it with a simple USB plug, much smaller, yet provides the same power. Why are power bricks still so big?
The other, more frustrating thing, is that the settings page doesn’t work except in Internet explorer or firefox – not such a problem setting it up from a computer, but it’s impossible from an iPhone. Also, sometimes it just works, sometimes it needs to be switched from ap to rt and back again before it gets a dns. I haven’t yet worked out a pattern.
It’s highly portable, and can be used as a dongle, router, or access point – each mode has separate settings; you can have different ssids and passwords, all kinds of routing options, far more than my home router! The range is not great, but good enough. It comes with all the cables you could need; power, Ethernet, and USB power, all neatly (except the power brick) packed into a zipped case.
Probably the smallest, most complete router you can find – just make sure to set it up from a computer before you take it anywhere!
